A SPACE FOR THE MEMORY

A SPACE FOR THE MEMORY

Josep Canal Alberola was born in Olot in 1919.

At age 18 he was called up, his destiny Alfambra (Teruel) where he acted as a sanitarian in the battle of that town.

Most of his family lived in exile, France and Mexico destinations. His passport allowed him to leave Spain but not return, he was not allowed to enter France either, so he decided not to go into exile.

His last years he lived on the outskirts of Olot, retired in the mountains, pissed off by an imposed monarchy and dreaming of a new restoration of the Republic.

To Josep Canal Arberola for remaining faithful to the cause for which he fought one day.

To those who suffered in the Spanish Civil War and those who continued to suffer after it was over.

To my grandfather, Domingo Venero, whom I did not know.

To my father, Domingo Venero, whom a fascist snatched the right to enjoy, learn, love, admire ... a father.
