Mingo Venero

 

Documentary photographer born in Cantabria committed to human rights and social justice. His documentary work focuses on social inequalities, migrations and children's rights, giving visibility and voice to the most disadvantaged people.

Since 2006 he has developed projects and collaborations in countries in Europe, Africa and America with different NGOs such as Save The Children, Doctors Without Borders, Doctors of the World or SOS Kinderdorf International, among others. On the other hand, in his work he also develops an author's photography using public spaces as scenarios for his work.

He has exhibited his works in public institutions, private galleries, museums and festivals in different countries. Noteworthy are the exhibitions at the Santa Mónica Art Center in Barcelona, ​​the Perpignan VISA OFF Photojournalism Festival, the Barcelona Contemporary Culture Center, the Cantabrian National Photography Center, the Barjola de Gijón Museum, the Miami History Museum, the Photographic Center of Málaga and Documentary Photography Festival of Barcelona DOCfield.

His projects have been recognized in national and international competitions such as the Fine Arts Scholarship of the Government of Cantabria, the International Human Rights Award REVELA, the International GEA PHOTOWORDS Award, the Professional Scholarship of the Photography and Journalism Seminar of Albarracín, the Pancho Cossío Award for Photojournalism, New Talent Scholarship of the Photographic Meetings of Gijón and finalist in the Luis Valtueña Report and Humanitarian Photography Awards, World Report Award, ANI-Visa pour l'Image and Moscow International Photo Awards, among others.

He combines his personal projects with teaching since 2006, being a professor at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), International Master of Contemporary Photography at the EFTI School and at Cultural Centers and Photography Schools of Cantabria, Madrid and Catalonia. Founding member of the urban photography collective Calle 35 and of the photography platform Territorios Libres.
